About

I'm Candi, a front-end developer since 2008 but been playing with code since 1997. There's more to code than just HTML and CSS. It's all about getting the user to interact with your site. Not only do I use jQuery to create a delightful experience, but I also look into the user experience to make each page easy to navigate. My goal as a developer is to help build the best site that fits not only your goals, but the users' goals as well.

Projects

Raybar Fine Jewelry - Current Project

Description:

For Raybar, I built and designed the whole retail jewelry site. I started with a few sketches of the different templates that would accommodate all their needs. Since they needed to update their collection and inform customers of events, I built the site with Wordpress for simple updates. The site uses the Foundation framework from Zurb which makes the site easily accessible via mobile.

Made By Hand

Description:

I have had the absolute pleasure to work with Mandy Brown, the A Book Apart editor, former editor of A List Apart and many other things, to build Made By Hand. This site showcases various people with their craft from beekeeper to distillery owner. Made By Hand was my first site using responsive web design. I did both the front-end and back-end using ExpressionEngine as the CMS. This was one of my favorite projects as well as a big learning experience for me.

Advance Trip Planner

Description:

I worked with the wonderful people at BCF to wireframe and build the advance trip planner for the Virginia Tourism site. The trip planner allows for the traveler to select points of interest, sort them into an itinerary and retrieve directions for each destination. Most of my work was using jQuery to create this highly interactive experience. I was able to display the listed items bookmarked from the site, add/removing them from a day on their itinerary, add/removing days to their trip, sorting the items within a day and then save or share their trip with family and friends.

North Beach on Kernan

Description:

North Beach was one of the very few sites that was not built from a template. Some of the apartment sites were built on a template, whereas this was custom-made to suit their needs. I did all of the front-end development and used a bit of PHP to insert the content from the custom-made CMS.
